Carbon2018 commended by ENDS Environmental Impact Awards 2017
Carbon2018 was commended by the ENDS Environmental Impact Awards 2017 for work with BNP Paribas Real Estate’s property management team that has seen it achieve financial savings of circa £500,000 a year on behalf of its clients.
BNP Paribas Real Estate has worked in partnership with Carbon2018, which has assisted in identifying and meeting its energy objectives by minimising cost, mitigating risk and reducing carbon emissions. The successful partnership resulted in numerous social, environmental and economic benefits. As well as financial savings for clients, the increased visibility of energy data, coupled with energy monitoring and targeting work resulted in a circa 2,000,000 kW reduction in electricity consumed between 2014-15 and 2015-16, equivalent to approximately 800 tonnes of CO2.
Carbon2018 was appointed as BNP Paribas Real Estate’s professional energy services partner with the aim of offering an end-to-end capability in energy management, from procurement to efficiency projects, based on a pragmatic approach and with the technology needed to collate all energy-related data pertaining to a portfolio of assets under management. This led to an energy procurement strategy that optimised processes across 500 separate energy supplies, and introduced certified green energy across BNP Paribas Real Estate’s entire UK portfolio. A comprehensive strategy was agreed that included all BNP Paribas Real Estate staff involved in day-to-day property and facilities management, ensuring that all understood their roles in delivering sustainability outcomes and in acting as ambassadors to communicate the core message to relevant stakeholders.
Nick Hillard, Head of Sustainability at BNP Paribas Real Estate said:
“The success of our partnership with Carbon2018 is a tribute to the quality and engagement of all people involved, and the focus on promoting commercial success and on-going efficiency and governance improvements within the context of a sustainable approach to business. “We remain committed to helping our clients reap the multiple benefits of an integrated, forward-thinking and innovative approach to energy management.” BNP Paribas Real Estate is a leading property manager in Europe with over 36m sq ft under management, and employing almost 1,000 people.
