ESOS Compliance Phase 2: Get ahead of the game
Phase the costs of compliance and reap the rewards through energy savings
Under the Energy Savings Opportunities Scheme (ESOS) large UK organisations (defined as businesses employing more than 250 staff or with a turnover greater than €50 million/ annual balance sheet exceeding €43 million) are obligated to carry out ESOS energy audits every 4 years. We are now in phase 2 of the scheme which runs from 6th December 2015 to 5th December 2019.
The Environment Agency highly recommends implementing a programme of regular energy audits. This best practice approach carries huge benefits:
> If you manage a portfolio of properties you can start budgeting now for a rolling programme of audits meaning you can spread the cost of compliance across multiple years avoiding being hit with a hefty lump sum in 2019;
> Advance planning removes the headache of tracking down the required data last minute – a process many of our clients found stressful during Phase 1;
> Starting the process now secures a qualified lead assessor well in advance of the December 2019 deadline, avoiding the risk of a bottleneck of resources as occurred during phase 1; and finally
> You can start realising the savings as part of the energy audits now, which will cover the costs of compliance and more.
How can Carbon2018 help?
There are various routes to ESOS compliance including ESOS Audits, Display Energy Certificates (DECs) and ISO 50001. We offer a range of solutions and will recommend the best route for your organisation based upon your business model and objectives.
For example, if you qualified for ESOS Phase 1, one option would be to use the information from the audit as the basis for implementing an energy management system such as ISO 50001, which will allow for the realisation of the energy saving opportunities identified.
To get ahead of the game our qualified lead assessors would be happy to assist. You can find out more by contacting:
